Job Description: QA & Automation Testing Manager (Cypress)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented QA & Automation Testing Manager with a strong focus on Automation Testing using Cypress. In this role, you will lead our Quality Assurance team, coordinating both manual and automation testers to ensure product quality and stability across our suite of new and legacy software products. You will be responsible for establishing, enhancing, and managing the QA process, with a particular emphasis on automating tests and optimizing testing workflows for efficiency.

Additionally, you will oversee the handling of 2nd-3rd level support incidents for our legacy software products, ensuring that our customers receive swift, efficient, and professional support. You will be a crucial part of delivering software solutions that align with our vision of simplifying the complex needs of the hospitality sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage the QA Team:
    • Oversee and coordinate activities within the QA team, including manual and automation testers.
    • Develop, mentor, and grow team members’ technical skills, particularly in automation testing using Cypress.
    • Foster a collaborative team environment and encourage continuous learning and improvement.
  • Automation Testing Focus:
    • Design, develop, and implement a robust test automation strategy with a primary focus on Cypress.
    • Define and track key metrics to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of automation testing processes.
    • Ensure seamless integration of automated tests into the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.
  • Manual Testing and Product Quality:
    • Coordinate manual testing activities to complement automated testing and ensure comprehensive product quality coverage.
    • Oversee test planning, case creation, and execution for both new products and software updates.
  • Incident Management for Legacy Software:
    • Manage the QA team’s response to 2nd level support incidents related to legacy software products, ensuring swift and effective troubleshooting and resolution.
    • Analyze incident trends and work with other departments (such as Development and Customer Support) to identify potential areas for proactive improvements.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Work closely with the Development, Product Management, and Customer Support teams to ensure alignment on quality standards and timelines.
    • Participate in sprint planning and release cycles to provide input on test strategies, testability of features, and product improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement and Best Practices:
    • Champion industry best practices in QA, test automation, and incident management.
    • Drive continuous improvement within the QA department, evaluating new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and coverage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong expertise in automation testing with Cypress and hands-on experience in setting up Cypress frameworks for web applications.
  • Proven experience in manual testing practices, test case development, and execution.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how automated tests fit into a DevOps environment.
  • Experience managing or handling 2nd level support incidents is a plus, especially for legacy systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azzure, JIRA, or similar project management and documentation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to leadership.
